Banbhore or Debal, Sindh

Today's banbhore is a small town in contrast to what it once was, a busy port city of Debal. For centuries the city served as the major seaport of the Indian subcontinent. It is here that Muhammad bin Qasim, the first muslim general to set foot in Hindustan captured and destroyed the fortress of Raja Dahir. It is also the hometown of Sassi, a famous character of the legendary love story of Sassi & Punnu.
