The Emperor's Mosque.

The Imperial Mosque or the Badshahi Mosque is situated in the old Lahore opposite to the fort. It was commissioned by the emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir and it boasted to be the world's largest mosque for over 3 centuries. It still has the largest courtyard in the world which is big enough to fit the whole Taj Mahal in it. It stands as a testimony to the devotion of the Moguls to their religion and keeping everything to the grand scale. The mosque also houses a small museum which contains relics belonging to the Prophet (P.B.U.H) and his companion. The tomb of the famous poet & philosopher Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan is situated just outside the mosque's main gate.
