Singh, The Tiger of Punjab.

The mausoleum for the greatest Sikh ruler in history also lies in Lahore, right adjacent to the Hazuri Bagh square. It stands out with its distinctive colors from its surroundings. Ranjit Singh after the collapse of the Muslim rule in Punjab was able to unite small Sikh states in Punjab into one united empire. This mausoleum was built at the site where Singh was cremated. Singh hailed from Gujranwala, but made Lahore the capital of his empire. The structure was built by his successors. The Sikh empire which encompassed modern day states of Indian & Pakistani Punjabs, Haryana, Kashmir and KP didn't survive for long after Singh's death and eventually fell under British colonial Raj.

A view from the Badshahi Mosque
Sadly I haven't been able to go inside this magnificent building yet, due to some restrictions of timings for non Sikh visitors, but i can provide photographs of it from the outside. Hopefully on my next visit to Lahore I'll be able to snap a few of the elusive inside.
