The Shah Jahan Mosque, Thatta

Jamia Masjid Thatta, or the Shah Jahani Mosque, built around 1647CE. The Mogul emperor Shah Jahan commissioned this mosque to glorify the city of Thatta the then capital of a province with the same name. He had deep association with the town, because he had served as its governor back when he was a prince.
I had this monument up on my list for quite some time and luckily I was able to pay a visit. The mosque is just glorious with its colorful design and the characteristic acoustics of Persian style mosques where a person doesn't need a loudspeaker while standing inside the structure to be heard throughout the mosque, this has been achieved by building a series of domes.

The most beautiful inside of a dome I've ever laid my eyes upon.

One of the smaller domes.
